The Gemsbok is an inverted 40mm 2-section tripod, which means the joints are at the top of the leg, instead of the bottom. As it is a 2-section tripod, each leg only has one joint.
 
The combination of these two features makes it a LOT faster to deploy. With a bit of exercise, you can get this tripod from folded up on the ground to fully deployed in under 10 seconds.
